I don’t watch Iron Chef America, the Next Iron Chef or much of anything on Food Network since they decided to switch their programming to a heavy reality format. Consequently the name Simon Majumdar didn’t mean much to me. Turns out he’s a world traveling author who has made a name for himself as a Food Network regular. What’s that have to do with anything? At the age of forty he quit his job and spent most of his life savings to travel around the world to accomplish his goal to “Go Everywhere. Eat Everything.”
Simon went into great detail about his decision and his trip when he sat down with Marc Maron for an interview on Marc’s WTF Podcast. The whole interview is quite good and starts at the 10:40 mark, or you can skip to the part about him quitting his job and taking the trip which starts at the 38:00 mark. There is some colorful language so I’ll go ahead and slap a NSFW on it.
