Thanks! I am heading to SE Asia at the end of March, and just starting to finalize my day by day details. Good recommendation on getting a guide for the first day.

The first day we went we arranged everything through our hotel, both the tuk-tuk and our guide. Our guide met us at the hotel in the morning and rode with us out to Angkor Wat and back.

You can find guides for hire at the site. Many times, they will find you. If you are walking around by yourself they will try to adopt you. If someone starts giving you unsolicited historical information, they are trying to land the job. You have to tell them you aren’t interested or they will persist.

Very informative post. My question is if you hire a guide, does he come with you on your tuk-tuk or does he meet you at the park? How does that work? Thanks!
