I don’t think it would be too much if those are your only two stops on your trip. There are plenty of buses running both ways every day and the travel time isn’t enough to take up your entire day.

Thanks so much for all of the info! I’m thinking about planning a trip to Lisbon, possibly towards the end of May. I’m hoping the weather will be decent enough but also hoping to avoid the busy tourist season. I would also love to take a trip to Lagos for an overnight or 2….do you think it would be too much to do both Lisbon and Lagos in 1 week?

Not sure if it can be done online. We went to the Sete Rios bus station in Lisbon. Multiple bus companies operate buses to Lagos from there. Since it wasn’t peak season, we just bought our tickets at the counter. You can take the Metro there from central Lisbon.

Please tell me where to catch the bus in Lisbon to Lagos. How do you buy tickets? What is the bus line called? Do I make reservations? Can it be done online?

Well, it all depends on what you’re in the mood for. It will be hot so the beaches in Lagos are nice. But it is also peak season so there will probably be more people from the UK than Portugal in Lagos in August. There are some cool hostels with a party spirit and it is small and easy to get around.

Lisbon has plenty of great places to hang out and there’s always something going on. You will not be bored in Lisbon. And if you want to hit a beach, there are many nearby for easy day trips. Personally, I would spend more time in Lisbon.
