Three months from now we will be in Costa Rica. It still seems a long way off until you break it down to just 13 weeks and more importantly 13 weekends. Even though we got off to a pretty good head start with planning and preparing, we’ve both been really busy with work and things don’t seem to be progressing as fast as they should. September & October are two of our busiest months at work which is made doubly hard by trying to keep up on everything outside of work. It is really easy to slide back into the regular routine.
Lots of friends have been throwing parties this fall (us included) which has been great as far as getting out and hanging out with our friends. Not so good when it comes to getting work done on the weekends. As D-day approaches the demands on free-time increase. Balancing things will be tricky, but we are trying to schedule things out. Next week is my busiest week of the year as I head to Louisville to work the National FFA Convention. The following week is Julie’s busiest when she has her annual trade show. Hopefully in November work demands will ease a bit though I have a feeling that may not be the case as I push to get my projects wrapped up before my departure.
There is a lot to do for work, more so than in previous years. I would normally be losing my shit and freaking out about not having enough time to get everything done but to be completely honest there’s a relief in knowing that no matter what, I’m gone in two months. It doesn’t mean I’m not trying to get it all done, it just means I’m not going to lose sleep over it.
As for our trip we’ve already discussed it. We have the plane ticket. We are leaving January 21 regardless if we are 100% ready or not. Coming from a person who tends to pack for vacation the morning of departure, I’m much further ahead of the game than I have ever been.
